About the Workshop

Learn fun facts about composers affected by mental illness and hear live musical performances by North York Music Festival students

In this Long & McQuade Richmond Hill sponsored workshop you will listen to author David W. Barber talk about composers such as Schumann, Tchaikowsky, Beethoven and Rachmanninov.

What mental health challenge or illness did they have? How did it affect their music and lives? How could their lives have been different if they lived today? Not only will you have the opportunity to ask questions, you will also be able to purchase your very own copy of Barber’s famous ‘Bach, Beethoven & the Boys’ adapted to High Notes Avante and renamed “We All Have A Story”.

You can pre-order with your free ticket. To make this workshop even more special Ella Poret of the North York Music Festival has recruited some young performers to give us musical examples in between the talking. Light refreshments will be provided, but please bring your own beverage.
