Flato Markham Theatre, May 16, 2014
We are shining the spotlight on mental health, raising awareness and doing our part in removing stigma associated with mental health related illness. We are thrilled to have lined up some wonderful performers including the Cecilia String Quartet, Richard and Lauren Margison, the Ferretti-Lau piano duo, Anastasia Rizikov, Chris Donnelly and Cole Higgins.
We are proud to have the amazing Jean Stilwell of Classical 96.3 FM host the evening. We are also honoured to have our client and distinguished classical music critic and adult educator Peter Kristian Mose speak about musicians and their private lives.
The evening also includes a dance performance Decide Soon choreographed by Bash Hirtenstein. In between the mostly musical performances you are treated to short, inspiring and informing speeches from health professionals and others experienced with mental health challenges. Amongst them Paul Cappuccio, Director of Mental Health at Markham-Stouffville hospital. Town of Markham Ward 1 councillor, Valerie Burke will talk about losing her mother to suicide. Christine Walter will speak about her struggles with schizophrenia and how she is turning her challenges to something good. Frank Scarpitti, Mayor of the Town of Markham, will be there together with many other distinguished members of the community–but it will not be complete without YOU.
As part of the $75 ticket price there will be pre-gala appetizers provided by the Village Grocer together with a glass of bubbly sponsored by Stan’s Pools & Yards from Pelee Winery in the lobby. Door prices include a tour of China provided by Jacco Tours!
There will be two intermissions in which you can chat with your friends and bid on amazing items in the silent auction.
